Artur Jorge De Carvalho
Born in Lisbon in 1919, died in Arlesheim, Switzerland, in 2012.
Graduate of the Antonio Arroio Fine Arts School, Lisbon, where he majored in Design and Painting.
1937–1950 Architectural, design and publicity work in Portugal and East and West Africa, participation in art and folklore exhibitions and international fairs (Portugal 1937, Paris 1938, New York 1939), murals.
1951–1956 Based in Rio de Janeiro. Murals, graphical art, publicity work and interior design for residential and office buildings, participation in fairs and exhibitions (e.g., the Religious Art Brazilian Retrospective, filmed by UNESCO).
1957–1986 Based in São Paulo, Brazil. Founder of Artur Jorge – Building of Interiors. Interior design for museums, fairs, banks, office buildings, residences, restaurants, churches.
From 1987 Retired; full-time painter.
From 2001 Based in Arlesheim, Switzerland, where he continued to paint until his death in 2012. Many of his paintings are in private collections in Brazil, the USA, Portugal, Germany and Switzerland. One of his paintings belongs to the Museu de Arte de São Paulo.
